After picking our own plums at Secretts (PYO) we stopped off at this busy little tea room situated at Hurst Farm in Milford.
Eliza’s Room & Gift shop has been refurbished and is now under new management by the owners of Butter and Cream who are responsible for a fabulous range of cakes and cupcakes.
With that in mind we just had to order an Oreo and a Salted Caramel cupcake, which meant blowing my diet of avoiding bad/empty carbs, wheat and sugar.
For an early taste of Christmas, we popped over to Secretts in Milford for their Food & Craft Fair (which runs until Sunday 17 November 2013).
Plently stalls ladden with delightful christmas ideas and scrummy treats on sale.
Christmas bunting and hand-craft sewing ephemera
Tempting turkish delight
Smelly cheese (my husband favourite stall)
This stall is much more me, and I couldn’t resit making a small purchase of their lovely guest soaps: Fresh Earth, Black Rice, Cinnamon, Safflower, Mangosteen and (the more traditional scent) Lavender.
These simple handmade wooden Christmas decortations are cute.
We are finally mobile again after almost an eon of relaying on my unreliable nine-year old car, which meant a relaxing drive down to Milford to do a little Pick Your Own at Secretts.
You can’t beat picking your own fruit. There is something just fantastically worthwhile about eating fruit you have collected yourself.
The plums are our favourites, but we were probably a little too early to pick a decent amount, though it looks like they will have a decent crop once they ripen a bit more. I can see another trip down there in a couple of weeks time.
There were many themed scarecrows but my favourite had to be the Tinman (from the Wizard of Oz).
After picking a huge punnet of strawberries to go with our meagre plums, we wandered back past the sunflowers.
Today was the second day of three-day Thailand Festival at Secretts in Milford.
Beautiful orchids in an array of colours.
Lots of sumptuous and aromatic food being cooked.
