After picking our own plums at Secretts (PYO) we stopped off at this busy little tea room situated at Hurst Farm in Milford.
Eliza’s Room & Gift shop has been refurbished and is now under new management by the owners of Butter and Cream who are responsible for a fabulous range of cakes and cupcakes.
With that in mind we just had to order an Oreo and a Salted Caramel cupcake, which meant blowing my diet of avoiding bad/empty carbs, wheat and sugar.

Tis the season for Christmas baking, though not actually by me as I don’t seem to have spare time at the moment.
But I certainly seem to find the time to eat the results from the baking sessions at home.
These very yummy Christmas Cupcakes recipe came from Next 100 Irresistible Cupcakes. The cupcakes have the addition ingredient of ground almonds to give them their festive taste.
These shortbread biscuits are made by adding cinnamon to a basic shortbread recipe, cutting them into seasonal shapes (such as bells, stars) and decorating with traditional red and green colours.
Hectic week, with a number of meetings in London, though I am not sure I could do the “commuting” lark on a regular basis.
One of my meetings took me in the vicinity of the Hummingbird Bakery in Islington. I have been past this shop on a number of occasions, but this time temptation got the better of me.
Four red velvet cupcakes made a welcome treat for our Thursday night supper. The only problem was, who was going to fight over the remaining cupcake?

It’s been quite a quiet year on the party or social gathering front, which is perhaps more of a reflection on the economic climate rather than my sad social life.
In early June, we attending my parents-in-law’s 50th Wedding Anniversary in Bristol. It was hosted as beautiful garden party with all the traditional trimmings, all decked out in the coloured theme of gold.
All the family had been invited: brothers, sisters, cousins, in-laws, children and grandchildren. The house was full of noise and chatter, conversations with old family and friends and with newly made acquaintances.
And of course there was lots of sumptuous food including these delicious cupcakes that Anna and I made for the occasion. We were very proud of our efforts and especially the decorating.
There are just somethings that will always cheer you up and cupcakes are one of them. These gorgeous cakes weren’t baked by me but by my step-daughter in Hospitality (what ever happened to Home Ec?) More than anything I love the sprinkles.
