Eliza’s Tea Room & Gift Shop

After picking our own plums at Secretts (PYO) we stopped off at this busy little tea room situated at Hurst Farm in Milford.

Eliza’s Room & Gift shop has been refurbished and is now under new management by the owners of Butter and Cream who are responsible for a fabulous range of cakes and cupcakes.

With that in mind we just had to order an Oreo and a Salted Caramel cupcake, which meant blowing my diet of avoiding bad/empty carbs, wheat and sugar.

Five Sailed Windmill

We stumbled upon the Five Sailed Windmill http://www.alford-windmill.co.uk/ in Alford when driving back from Huttoft to Conningsby. The Windmill incorporates, not only a working mill, but a shop selling its own milled flour as well as other locally sourced produce as well as the ‘Millstones’ tea rooms serving home baked cakes and scones. This is must for anyone who can’t resist a delicious afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings.

Leasowe Lighthouse

Blowing the cobwebs away with a walk from Moreton to Hoylake, taking in the magnificence of the Leasowe Lighthouse.  We caught the train up to West Kirby for lunch at Aubergine Cafe.

Lower Heswall

Hidden away on the banks of the River Dee is the fantastic Sheldrakes restaurant which has amazing views across the Dee Estuary to the welsh mountains.  We enjoyed a cozy lunch for two and then a walk along the banks of the Dee.

A couple of days off to relax and recover after a busy couple of weeks. A chance to spend some quality time at home and maybe even time to do a bit more photography.

Christmas candles

Last night I spent a relaxing two and half hours with a lovely friend making these gorgeous Christmas candles.

Christmas candles

I had no experience of candle making before and found it a fascinating process, especially how you add the dried oranges and star anise to the candles.

Each of the candles is fragranced with Christmas Spice to add a little more festive aroma when burnt.

I am really pleased with my first attempts at candle making, and I can see how addictive it could be as hobby.

Autumnal Walk

There is something satisfying about a family walk across Merrow Common on a Sunday afternoon in the dying autumnal sunshine, especially after a full roast lunch.
