How do you celebrate a special birthday? With cake of course
These fabulous beauties were lovingly created by our local Surrey bakery Butter and Cream Cakes http://www.butterandcream.co.uk/. Resisting these mouthwatering temptations was too hard, even for me.
Saturday was big mile stone in our house, so it was time to celebrate.
What a glorious day for the Guildford Festival Boat Gathering and the Guildford Lions Charity raft race down on the River Wey.
The Festival Boat Gathering theme was “Britain at its Best” and it certainly was. All manner of boats were moored near Millmead Island and splendidly decorated in their patriotic red, white and blue.
Wandering along the tow path you can’t help to admire the traditional narrow boats and how they are beautifully decorated. Some boat owners were taking the opportunity to selling either their home-made crafts and art work.
After the tranquil walk it was time to get stuck into the frenetic competition of the charity raft race. Spectators lined the banks waiting for the start.
Ready, steady, go……..
And then they were off!
