Vintage Day at Oxfam

With little chance of a proper summers day, we went browsing round the shops.   A constant threat of rain or being blown across the street, we stuck close to our usual haunts.  Of course we couldn’t miss the opportunity to pop into our local Oxfam who were holding a Vintage Day.   This lovely little shop had been changed into a treasure trove of vintage (themed) gems.  Clothes, ephemera and home-ware, there was some much to choose from.

I was tempted by a beautiful burgundy leather diary from 1960’s or  an old-fashioned cricket bat which were attractively displayed in the entrance of the shop.  But eventually, after endless browsing, it was these buttons that took my fancy.

Sketching peaches

Saturday afternoon I got the urge to grab my sketch pad and pastels. I must admit I am very rusty at drawing (probably coz I don’t do it that often). To be honest I should have stopped after taking this picture as the work I did after it really didn’t improved the sketch one bit.

Refreshing

Refreshing

It feels like an age since I last picked up my camera and blogged.  I have to admit (to something I am not proud of) this has been the first weekend since February which has actually felt like a weekend, were I haven’t been working or checking emails (a relief to my poor husband).  My work-life balance has been horrifically out of kilter.  New job, new responsibilities.  There has been something refreshing about this weekend. Normal.
